It the office, social media is being used to connect with customer, find customers, find talent, develop products and much more. In a recent article from IN March 2007, a Business Week insert, the percentage of companies using the following social media applications are as follows:

Social Networking Sites - 27%
Online Video - 24%
Blogging - 19%
Wikis - 17%
Podcasting - 11%
The article goes on to say that on the path of value that social media networking provides, we are now in between the slope of enlightenment and the plateau of productivity (up from the trough of disillusionment...thank god). There is no doubt that social media for businesses is on the rise and the implementation of it into a companies marketing strategies and daily routine is climbing but still in its infancy. Lots of opportunity in the immediate future!
