web ad sales

In keeping up with Internet facts and stats, the Los Angelos Times reports that WEB AD SALES RISE 35% IN US IN 2006. Internet advertising sales soared 35% to $16.9 billion in the US last year as marketers accelerated their pursuit of Web site audiences. Internet ad spending in Q4 reached a record $4.8 billion, a 33% gain, the Interactive Advertising Bureau said, citing a survey conducted with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Internet advertising sales and web ad sales accounted for 5.9% of all US ad spending, up from 4.7% in 2005. The report shows advertisers are increasingly picky about where they place their ads and the results they get.

TARGET 1Q PROFIT RISES 18%. The first quarter was a tough one for many retailers, so Target's 18% profit growth took investors by surprise Wednesday. Despite worries about rising gas prices and a cool, wet April keeping some shoppers away, Target managed what Wal-Mart could not. It beat Wall Street expectations and predicted full-year results would be in line with analyst expectations.
