web 2.0 malwareThe Wall Street Journal's Ben Worthen reports that web 2.0 is making about 80% of all corporations susceptible to attacks on their network. Hidden in videos, widgets and social media applications on websites and in software, businesses are not prepared for the viruses that lurk from within these applications. Online collaboration software and tools that improve the efficiency of businesses pose threats to the IT departments though about 97% of businesses consider themselves prepared for these attacks according to Forrester Research.

The online employee of a business does not realize the virus threat that is set up to steal information or use the computer to send spam and with IT departments not seeing their vulnerability, we have the makings for some serious damage to businesses. Intellectual property is typically stolen from the inside but this brings the threat to just about every business.
